The exposure attained from selling an item on Craigslist is lucrative in itself, the ability of the site to serve as a middleman is one of the major factors that sets the site apart from other classified resources.
To compare, The New York Times would charges $23.55 and upwards per line to sell furniture and other miscellaneous items in their weekday paper. A recent posting on the Craigslist website in Chicago showed 792 postings of individuals advertising furniture sales...all at no cost.

Bringing people together was and is the Craigslist objective. Response and feedback are essential, as is the ability to connect online and interact with others.
